The San Francisco Chronicle – “Cellist’s Black Dress Misses the Concerts Too” May 25, 2020

In March, 2020, the San Francisco Symphony stopped performing and went into sustained hiatus, along with the rest of the country. The professional musician community was not being able to meet our audiences in live performances for over a year. I wrote two humorous/serious articles for The San Francisco Chronicle about my personal experience during this time; the first was a few months after the lock down began, and the second was over a year later, when live concerts resumed. I used the metaphor of my black concert dresses as a way of explaining what many performing artists were going through, and as a way to access the collective shared pain of this difficult time.
